Chapter History

The Epsilon Delta Chapter of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity Inc. was founded April 19, 2001, by Brother Jeffery Celestand. Jeff knew that one man could not expand the name of Iota through the campus of Grambling State University alone, so he went on a journey to seek out brotherhood. Going to Pan-Hellenic Council Meetings and listening to people say that it was impossible to start a chapter and expand. This was nerve reckoning. Carrying alot of negativity over his shoulders, brother Celestand endured. His ambition and determination drove him to the Summer of July 2001., Bro. Celestand completed his destiny. He brought into this chapter three team players that were hard workers as well. They called themselves I.S.Final Destination.These three brothers were the foundation of this chapter. They set forth the beginning of mature brothers. Although maturity is what these men had, something was still missing! The fall semester rolled in and it was time for recruitment. On the 3rd of December 2001, they went from having three brothers on the yard to seven. These brothers had what was missing...CRUNKNESS!!! These four enthusiastic OWTLAWZ were the Midnight Monks. During the Spring of 2002 productivity in the business aspect of the organization and community service projects on and off campus, this fraternity was growing inside and out. The next set of brothers equalled to six. They were very dangerous, so we had to keep them locked up. On November 2, 2002, we unleashed the I.S. Chain Gang. During that Fall semester, the Centaur Club and Iota Sweethearts were introduced to the campus.The Spring 2003 Semester was one to remember. We were all chilling at the frat house, when it got really cloudy outside and a storm of brothers came rolling in. The name of these brothers was the I.S. Desert Storm. Like its name, that is what they did, they took the campus over by storm. A year and a half went by and brothers were graduating. We recieved our chapter letters at the Conclave in Chicago(we are now the Epsilon Delta Chapter of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity,inc.), and we got the Best Region of the Year Award, but back to the story. There were 9 brothers left on the yard. Something incredible happened that changed this chapter forever. They won first place in the Spring 2004 Springfest Stepshow. This gave them a chance to represent the Chapter and the name of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity Inc. for the first time in Iota History at the Fall 2004 Bayou Classic Stepshow. Along with that they brought in the Saints, that rocked the campus The SEVEN SAINTS. These talented men were very intellectual and enthusiastic. They carried on and represented in the Bayou Classic with older brothers Derrick Anderson and Charles Weens and came owt victorious with Third Place and a Check (these neos don't play when it comes down to business and stepping). As for the present, We are still holding it down for the 2kwhat!!!!! Iota Phi Theta Fraternity has been on Grambling State University's yard for Five years!!!!! Alot of people didn't believe in us and many hate us cause they ain't us, but we are still continuing to spread the name of Iota and brotherhood across the campus, because it is all about........
